Tour of Remodeled Homes: Remodelers

November 2025

The 25th Annual Tour of Remodeled Homes, presented by the Remodelers Council of the Home Builders Association of Greater Des Moines, was recently held with twelve unique homes on display by nine of the best remodelers in the area. This scattered site, self-guided tour is a perfect opportunity for attendees to talk to remodelers directly and see their best work.

Visitors also get the chance to view the latest in current trends and products while learning more about each remodeler and the process each one used to transform the homes for their clients. As always, these talented remodelers went above and beyond in creating these beautiful transformations.

Home #1: Woodharbor Kitchen Bath & Home

This transformation redefines modern living by seamlessly integrating the kitchen with the dining room and sunroom. The design fosters a sense of connectivity, openness, and light, making the space perfect for intimate family moments as well as entertaining guests. By combining the refinished hardwood oak floors, light painted cabinets, and lighter countertop and backsplash, the kitchen is transformed into a bright and inviting heart of the home. It offers premium function, with tons of workspace and plenty of storage available. The new open concept ensures that natural light flows freely from the sunroom now into the kitchen and dining area, creating a cohesive and uplifting environment.

Home #2: Grand Homes & Renovations

This project was designed with a love for vintage and Scandinavian elements. Opening up the kitchen and rearranging the front dining room to become the new mudroom and laundry room, was just what this family of four needed to revitalize their home. Blending soft textures with painted cabinets and trim, mixed in with rift sawn white oak added, made this the perfect place to entertain, enjoy a movie as a family or sit in front of a wood burning fire. The use of marbles, quartzite, natural woods and unpolished brass fixtures, completed the look. Visitors will notice a few arches from the garage and into the pantry, to once again welcome the European and custom feel.

Home #3: Alair Homes Des Moines

This is arguably one of the most perfectly located homes in the entire Des Moines area. It is uniquely situated on a lovely lot in one of the city’s most beloved neighborhoods, as well as a gorgeous park. However, this older residence was showing its age and had a floor plan that had been haphazardly modified over the decades. This lack of planning led to cramped, awkward spaces and dated finishes throughout. The Alair professionals thoroughly reworked the layout, bringing the perfect flow and functionality that a modern family requires in a home. The timeless finishes are now the perfect complement to an established neighborhood that’s rich in history and tradition.

Home #4: B Street Design | Build

This one is personal because it is the remodeler’s own home, which they purchased after moving their company across the country. They decided the best way to start over in a new city was to take on a project of their own that they could use to show potential clients the quality craftsmanship and quality design they provide. The 100 year old brick craftsman was fully gutted, opening up the kitchen and dining area. A mudroom was added to connect the home to the garage. An additional new 900 square feet includes a home office, a primary suite, laundry closet, and another bedroom. There is also extra basement space which will be remodeled in the next phase.
